Dr. Gabor Maté

In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts is one of those books that has changed my mind, and many other people’s minds, in terms of the way we think about addiction. Read an excerpt.

Adoption Toolkit

I authored this manual for families adopting from foster care for Walden Family Services, under the guidance of adoptions supervisor Andi Leigh. The toolkit describes many of the issues faced by families post-adoption, and offers tips and resources, especially for those in the greater Southern California area. Find it here.

Resource Family Approval Guide

For the Alliance for Children’s Rights, I assembled and edited the first Resource Family Approval toolkit, working with a statewide coalition of child welfare agencies and advocates. The toolkit was created in response to 2017 foster care reforms in California that changed the way that California counties recruit, train and approve those who hope to provide a home for a child who has entered foster care. It provides a comprehensive guide to completing the application and approval process. Find it here.
